Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

At General Software

At General Software, diversity is not just something we talk about because it's the right thing to do. We'll be the first to say that we are making progress, and there is always room for improvement. But here at General Software, diversity really does matter - in fact, it matters a lot - because it has a direct impact on our business and your business. At its core, diversity drives innovation. And when you have an inclusive culture of tolerance and respect where people feel they can bring their whole self to work every day---where individuals from diverse backgrounds with diverse perspectives can work together to problem solve---you get innovative ideas that wouldn't otherwise exist. Inclusion isn't just a buzzword; it's good business sense---and it's the right thing to do. Not surprisingly however, diversity and inclusion are too often buzzwords in the tech world. Maybe it's time we start acting like they actually matter.

A trusted ally is an investment for the future, not a purchase.

"yes we can."

At General Software, we have been actively working together as a team to create an inclusive, creative, highly productive workplace environment where employee voices are valued and heard. By bringing new perspectives to our leadership team---through recruiting from various colleges, universities, and backgrounds, and giving employees opportunities to be heard and have a direct impact on our business---we create an environment where everyone can succeed and thrive.

Mentoring and supporting employees in professional development is another way we're working to build a more diverse, inclusive work environment. To ensure mentorship opportunities go to those who need them most, we created the notion of "mentor circles" consisting of employees who have volunteered to be mentors. These small groups rotate on a quarterly basis so that everyone gets mentored, including new hires/interns as well as long-term employees. Mentorships are key levers for helping General Software maintain a culture of inclusion where employees feel comfortable bringing their whole selves to work every day, knowing they will be treated with respect and tolerance. In fact, one employee told us he joined our company because he was attracted to its diversity and inclusion values that are part of our core culture.

Here at General Software, we want to do what's right and be recognized for it. No other reason. We've created an environment where people can feel comfortable bringing their whole selves to work everyday---where they can learn how to deal with whatever comes their way because it's a normal part of life instead of something to be ashamed about. And in doing so, we get innovative ideas that wouldn't otherwise exist, which makes us better at our jobs and gives you more value as a customer.
